About

Thank you for taking the time to visit this blog. It is my hope the conversations on this site will help our communities, our state, and our democracy safely navigate this severe recession to emerge on the other side stronger than ever.

The prudent ship captain – and the worthy political leader – are always forehanded: scouting for dangers ahead, choosing a course to avoid storms and arrive safely at the next destination with crew, cargo and ship in better shape than when they started the voyage.

One of the most important tools in a healthy democracy is open dialogue about ideas, concerns, or problems that our communities may face. We all share the same goals in government; the problem lies in how we get there.

In my opinion there is never a perfect idea. We need to listen to each other and fine tune the fixes to our problems so that in the end, we get a product with which we are all happy.

If we are to thrive in the competitive world of the 21st Century we must leave no citizens on the sidelines. We can do it - but we need to restore that classic American “can do together” spirit.

ForehandedWA offers perspectives on the current economic crisis. I invite your strategic thinking about how we can best navigate the downturn to emerge with our working families, businesses, and communities stronger than ever. This is a moderated forum; please be brief and civil, respecting others’ points of view.

You can reach me by e-mail, regular mail or the toll free Hotline (800-562-6000). I look forward to hearing from you soon!
